Atlanta Hawks Return to Peachtree TV for Game Broadcasts

Atlanta Hawks' Broadcast Returns to Peachtree TV

The Atlanta Hawks, an esteemed franchise of the NBA, are making a nostalgic return to Peachtree TV after a hiatus that spanned nearly three decades. This marks a significant shift in the team's broadcast strategy, aiming to reconnect with local audiences and reignite the passion of Friday night basketball.

Starting January 12, 2024, Peachtree TV is set to air every Friday night game for the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season, with one exception. Due to scheduling conflicts, the March 8th game will not be broadcast; instead, fans can look forward to the matchup against the New Orleans team on March 10th.

In a nod to the past, the Hawks games were once a staple on WPCH from 1972 until 1994, with WANF also providing coverage from 1986 to 1993. In celebration of this renewed partnership, the first two games under the new arrangement will be simulcast on both Peachtree TV and WANF, offering fans multiple platforms to support their team.

Furthermore, the live broadcasts of the Hawks games will extend beyond Peachtree TV to major cable and satellite services, as well as various Gray TV stations throughout Georgia and Alabama, ensuring comprehensive coverage for the team's ardent fan base.

Production Team and Commentary Excellence

The games will be brought to life by the seasoned Bally Sports Southeast production team. Dominique Wilkins, Bob Rathbun, and Tabitha Turner will lend their voices and expert analysis to the broadcasts, enriching the viewing experience with their profound knowledge of the game. Additionally, Baillie Burmaster, the Sports Director from WANF, will contribute her insights, further enhancing the coverage.

As the Hawks take on formidable opponents such as the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers, fans are guaranteed a thrilling lineup of Friday night fixtures.

Peachtree TV isn't new to basketball broadcasts, having aired College Park Skyhawks games since 2019. The channel's expertise in basketball coverage is expected to translate seamlessly to the Hawks' broadcasts, providing fans with high-quality sports entertainment.

Recent On-Court Struggles

Despite the excitement surrounding the broadcast announcement, the Hawks have faced recent challenges on the court. A notable setback occurred during a game against the Sacramento Kings, where the team squandered a substantial lead due to a lackluster second-half performance. Key players Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic experienced difficulties, contributing a mere two and three points respectively after halftime.

The team's shooting accuracy also took a hit, with field goal percentages plummeting to 28.9 percent and three-point success rates dropping to 21.7 percent in the latter stages of the game. These statistics highlight the need for strategic adjustments moving forward.

Executive and Coach Perspectives

Andrew Saltzman, an executive associated with the Hawks, expressed enthusiasm about the new broadcasting deal. "It provides fans a new, complimentary way to view the games," he remarked, acknowledging the added value this partnership brings to the table. Saltzman continued to express his gratitude towards Peachtree TV and Gray TV for their collaboration, emphasizing that "this partnership will benefit the Hawks' local fan base."

Erik Schrader shared a similar sentiment, focusing on the potential for growth and outreach. "Bringing the Hawks back to broadcast television provides accessibility to all fans," he stated. Schrader also pointed out the opportunity to engage new audiences while still catering to long-time supporters, suggesting that the move could expand the Hawks' viewership significantly.

On the coaching front, Quin Snyder emphasized the necessity for "better execution and a collective approach" in response to the team's recent struggles. Meanwhile, player Clint Capela voiced concerns over the team's frustration and underscored the urgent need for a tactical shift to overcome the current challenges.

As the Atlanta Hawks embark on this exciting new chapter with Peachtree TV, there is a palpable sense of anticipation for what the rest of the season holds. Fans can expect a blend of nostalgia and modernity as they tune in to watch their beloved Hawks soar on the screens of Peachtree TV once again.
